How do I clean the clay soil in a white shirt?

My husband on his team Slow Pitch softball field. He used his shirt to clean the ball (much to my regret). It is now stained with clay and I have tried everything to get him out (oxy clean, spray and wash, Tide detergent rubbed into the stain, Clorox bleach pen). The only thing I have not tried seems to be soaking in the laundry right. All suggestions on this?
