How do I overhaul and repair holes in the skin of the feet of the Rhythmic Gymnastics?

I have a pair of Capezio shoes pirrouette Lined Leather lyrcra are at the top of the shoe. Smooth leather upper and the sole is more like a deer. Anywho, I have a hole in the tip of them and another in the other shoe. I was wondering if there was a way to patch the hole so it does not worsen. I thought something like strapping band perhaps? Nobody has tried this?
